buildingSMART Nordic

http://www.buildingsmartnordic.org

Founded in August 1996, the BuildingSMART Nordic (formerly named IAI Nordic Chapter) consisted of four national groups: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. In 2009 Norway decided to form their own Chapter. buildingSMART Norway is an observer in buildingSMART Nordic. These national groups are carrying out activities in various domains, individually but also within the BuildingSMART umbrella for projects of common interest. The BuildingSMART Nordic focuses mainly on the implementation of BIM/IFC standards in real projects, through common and national projects.

National Groups

Finland

As the usage of BIM is growing rapidly in Finland, the national group focuses its activities on developing IFC/BIM education programmes and implementation projects.

Denmark

Denmark is particularly involved in providing state clients with IFC models, according to demands made in the "Digital Construction program": several municipalities and some private clients has or showing interest in adopting the requirements.

Sweden

Sweden is currently developing an information handbook on IFC standards and is involved in a two year ERAbuild project with Finland, using web services and model servers.
