Current membership of BuildingSMART United Kingdom & Ireland stands at 57 organizations gathered around the common objective of developing interoperability within the building sector through the dissemination of the IFC standards.

Activities

Internationally, BuildingSMART United Kingdom & Ireland is very active in the field of IFC-related IT innovations, with for instance the launch of the SMARTcodes, but also through its support to European projects involving BuildingSMART’s participation (STAND-INN, EIC). Within the UK, BuildingSMART United Kingdom & Ireland is working within Uniting Construction Information (UCI) to promote the IFC/BIM as international standards.

Priorities

BuildingSMART UK’s priorities are now to make stable business plan and stable technical development plan, and working on a full international standard for the next release of IFC. To achieve these goals, BuildingSMART United Kingdom & Ireland is particularly focusing on increasing the government’s involvement in its projects.
