International Council
The International Council acts as the executive board of buildingSMART International and meets twice a year to coordinate business and technical strategy.
Each Regional Alliance delegates two members to the IC.
The IC elects a Chair from amongst its members and appoints an International Business Manager to manage funds and meetings.
Mission
The buildingSMART International Council is the forum in which all the recognised independent regional alliances (currently 13) come together to: achieve consensus about the future strategic direction and specific activities which need to be determined and executed internationally, taking advice as appropriate from the International Technical Management Committee secure resource commitments in money or time to carry out the defined activities and prepare a balanced budget monitor performance against plans.
The Council consists of Regional Alliances Chairs and one other appointed representative from each Regional Alliance, plus the International Chair who is a member ex officio and is elected for a 2 year term. The two deputy Chairs are Regional Alliances' representatives.
Agreement is normally by consensus. In the event of a vote, each Regional Alliance is equal and has one vote.
